Famous Holiday Film Dishes and How to Make Them
The stockings are hung, the lights are twinkling and the holidays are in full swing! Few things put us in the seasonal spirit like cuddling up with the family and watching a good ‘ole holiday movie. Whether you’re a fan of comedic elves and Christmas shenanigans or heartfelt flicks with a dash of drama, there’s a classic movie for everyone.
One thing our favorite films usually feature is mouth-watering food. You can’t have a celebration without a big meal, right? And if you’ve ever wished you could jump into the screen and take a big bite for yourself, today’s your lucky day! We’ve compiled a list of recipes to re-create holiday dishes from popular movies so you can be the main character of the meal.
Holiday Movie Food Recipes
A Christmas Carol — Christmas Pudding
Mrs. Cratchit spent the day in the kitchen to gift her family with a steaming Christmas pudding. While the prep time is less than 30 minutes, you will need to bake or steam the pudding for eight hours, so make sure you’ve carved out enough time.
A Christmas Story — Meatloaf
We know Ralphie and Randy weren’t huge meatloaf fans, but we think if they tried this flavorful recipe, they’d change their tunes. We won’t even ask you for the name of the Lone Ranger’s nephew’s horse before giving it to you.
Elf — Spaghetti and Meatballs
This tasty spaghetti recipe will satisfy all the little elves in your house. Using a slow cooker to prepare the dish saves you valuable time during the holiday hustle and bustle. (If you want to go full Elf, you’ll have to add your own syrup at the end!)
How the Grinch Stole Christmas — Who Hash
Don’t spend the season alone like a certain green somebody. Invite your friends and family over to enjoy this recipe the way it was intended: together! Whipping this up with leftovers is a breeze, making it a perfect day-after-Christmas meal.
Holiday Movie Drink Recipes
Home Alone — Holiday Punch
Although this fan favorite film doesn’t feature punch, Harry and Marv get punched (plus pummeled, burned and more) plenty of times, so we thought it only right to include in our list. The best part? This recipe can be easily made with or without alcohol depending on your preference.
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation — Eggnog
For adults only, this boozy eggnog would be sure to cheer up Clark Griswold after the Christmas light debacle. Cinnamon stick garnishes add some cheerful flair but aren’t required.
The Polar Express — Hot Cocoa
We couldn’t get everyone tickets on the Polar Express, but we were able to track down this delectable recipe. Safe for children and adults, this drink will bring a smile to guests of all ages.
Instead of sugarplums, we’ll be dreaming about these tasty recipes this year! If you make one yourself, please share it on social media and tag us @KansasFarmFoodConnection on Facebook and @KSFarmFood on Instagram — it’s a sure way to get on our Nice List.
Happy holidays!
